While language proficiency remains important, the future of academic writing hinges on nurturing clarity and convincingness in thinking skills. This shift requires a recalibration of educational priorities to instill a thinking-focused approach in both human writers and AI systems. This paper, excerpted from a textbook presenting a practical argument construction guide, highlights the main features of this new approach to writing and thinking education.
